C.J. DaughertyC. J. Daugherty was 22 when she saw her first dead body. Although she’s now left the world of crime reporting she has never lost her fascination with what it is that drives some people to do awful things as well as the kind of people who will try to stop them.

The international bestselling Night School series is the product of that fascination. Born in the USA, C.J. Daugherty has lived in the UK so long she considers herself British. She is well known for her books about Ireland and Paris for Frommers (Wiley) and has co-written books with her husband, the BAFTA nominated filmmaker Jack Jewers.

The second book in the hit five-part NIGHT SCHOOL series shows Allie, aware that her life is now part of a high-stakes game, joining Night School.  Sick and tired of being rescued, and aware that her life is now part of a high-stakes game she doesn’t fully understand, Allie joins Night School. Now the real work begins.  The Society combines relentless physical self-defence and survival training with strategy. Night School’s message is clear: You can rule the world but first you must give up your own life and live for the organisation.

Busy with training and classes Allie’s life is a whirlwind blowing so strong she doesn’t even think about the past. But on a brief visit home to London, her mother tells her that the mysterious Lucinda is Lucinda Meldrum – one of the most powerful women in the world. And she’s Allie’s grandmother. When Isabelle reveals that Nathaniel is her brother, and that he wants to take over Cimmeria and the entire organisation behind it, Allie finally understands what’s really at stake.

NIGHT SCHOOL (Little, Brown/Atom, January 2012)

             NIGHT SCHOOL - German

When everyone is lying to you, who do you trust?

Allie Sheridan is a troubled middle-class girl. Her life spiraled out of control after her brother ran away. Her parents have no interest her, or anything for that matter. And she’s just been arrested. Again.

When she’s sent away to Cimmeria Academy, she thinks it’s just a kind of posh reform school. That all she has to do is fit in for a while and bide her time until it all blows over.

She couldn’t be more wrong.

Cimmeria Academy is no ordinary school. Its rules are strangely archaic. It allows no computers or phones. Its students are an odd mixture of the gifted, the tough and the privileged. And then there’s the secretive Night School, a secret society whose activities other students are forbidden to even mention.

Following the death of one of the students at the summer ball, Allie begins to discover that the school and her family are involved in something much darker than she ever imagined. Why did Allie’s parents lie to her? Who are her enemies?

What’s really going on at Cimmeria Academy?
