Congratulations to Holly Bourne on the publication of her début novel, SOULMATES, published by Usborne on Sunday 1st September.
Holly has had a full schedule with the launch of SOULMATES, speaking at the Edinburgh International Book Festival alongside Sarah Mussi, and sharing an author yurt with the likes of Caitlin Moran and Margaret Atwood, and is now on the SOULMATES roadshow tour. She’ll be signing at bookshops and taking part in popular events such as the panel discussion at Blackwells this Wednesday 4th September with C.J. Daugherty, who also writes YA fiction that appeals to adults.
Holly was busy signing books at Waterstones in her hometown over the weekend which was followed by a wonderful launch party where we celebrated the publication of her novel and ate SOULMATES CAKE!
Holly Bourne is also a fulltime journalist for TheSite.org, a charity-run website that helps 16-25-year-olds with practically every problem you can imagine growing up. Before this, she spent two years working as a news reporter for The Surrey Mirror where she was shortlisted for Print Journalist of the Year 2010. She has a first class degree in Journalism from the University of Sheffield.
We are very excited about the publication of SOULMATES, quite literally a love story to end the world…
Usborne is publishing Holly Bourne’s YA début, SOULMATES, in September 2013. Publicity has already started with her first author Q&A, published on the ‘Reading Away the Days’ blog as a Valentine’s Day special. SOULMATES is an epic, electrifying and extraordinary début about falling in love and the science behind love. Holly set out to write ‘a romance which really gets into the guts about what it means to be in love – ripping apart the cliché from the reality.’ It’s a fabulous story about love but also a page-turning thriller with a world-ending twist. We will be revealing the cover soon.
Previously a journalist, Holly now writes for The Site, an excellent advice and information website for 16-25 year olds which has over 100,000 users each month. Her video ‘Porn vs Reality’ has just been shortlisted for ‘Pamela Sheridan young people’s sexual health project of the year’ award at The Sexual Health Awards 2013. She came up with the idea to help dispell common pornography myths about sex, and wrote the script which was then filmed by TheSite’s multimedia producer. Before being shortlisted, it had already had almost 20,000 hits.
